About Us

A Legacy of Excellence in Thoroughbred Breeding.

Founded two decades ago, Goodwood Farm has been a labour of love for owner Kerrie Tibbey and her dedicated team.

The journey, as always, began with a love for horses. Starting out with standards, before standing New Zeeland bred stallion at a property in Muswellbrook, Tibbey exited the horse world and began a plant nursey, but it wasn’t long before the urge saw her return.

Always knowing that the industry was where she wanted to be, experience was secured with stints at various studs including the famed Woodlands Stud, now part of the global Godolphin operation that has produced numerous champions.

With the want to secure her own property, the decision was made to purchase Goodwood Farm some 20 years ago, and the rest as they say is history.

The first recognised quarter horse stud in Australia, the property was already named Goodwood Farm, and with Tibbey having been told that changing the name was bad luck, Goodwood Farm kept its name.

Facillities

Nestled across 500 acres of undulating country, Goodwood Farm stands at the foot of the majestic Liverpool Ranges, benefiting from more rainfall than the valley below. Our natural haven, partially irrigated, boasts a diverse landscape ranging from flats to rolling hills.

The heart of Goodwood Farm lies in its expansive yearling paddocks, scattered across the undulating sides of hills. Ranging from 20 to 50 acres, these paddocks provide ample space for our yearlings to thrive. They run in harmonious groups, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition.

Our commitment to a natural environment is evident in the abundance of trees and the absence of small yards. Goodwood Farm embraces the beauty of its surroundings, ensuring that every aspect of our facility harmonises with the undisturbed, picturesque landscape.

The yearlings at Goodwood Farm enjoy the freedom of movement and the joy of exploration. With many paddocks containing dams, our yearlings take to swimming throughout the year. The large, undulating terrain allows them to express their natural instincts and develop into robust, agile athletes.

Our yearling stables are designed with a focus on openness and comfort. Rubber-lined stalls with open mesh at the top ensure that yearlings are not confined, affording them a view of their surroundings. A 12-horse walker and a well-appointed sand yard contribute to the overall well-being and fitness of our equine residents.

As the sun sets, our yearlings find solace in individual yards, akin to stallion runs. The colts in particular, venture out most nights, experiencing the tranquillity of Goodwood Farm. This thoughtful approach to their nightly retreats ensures a serene and secure environment for our promising young talents.
