From the first crop of Rubick’s Jacquinot, the winner of the G1 Golden Rose Stakes and G1 CF Orr Stakes, the grandson of the Champion Sire Encosta de Lago will be represented by 23 lots at this year’s Magic Millions yearling sale.

Lot 823 is the first foal of the G2 placed Preferment mare Smirk (NZ), who also finished fourth in the G1 Queensland Oaks.

Recent G1 Golden Rose winners at stud include Ole Kirk, The Autumn Sun, Trapeze Artist, Astern, Exosphere, Hallowed Ground and Zoustar – all G1 producers as sires, while grandsons of Encosta de Lago have produced over 260 stakes performers highlighted by 19 individual G1 winners!

Bred on the same Encosta de Lago x Zabeel pedigrees cross that has produced 37 winners from 54 runners led by seven stakes performers, it’s interesting to note that mares out of sons of Zabeel have recorded more than 280 stakes performers including 19 G1 winners.
